What trends are making their way into the interior design space?
In 2025, textured walls are in the spotlight, with wood paneling, decorative plaster finishes, and wallpapered ceilings adding depth and vibrant visual appeal to interiors.
Bold, saturated colors are making a strong comeback. Rooms bathed in a single hue, layered with varying shades and tones, create a cohesive and striking effect.
Quiet Luxury, a trend continuing from last year, focuses on creating spaces that are elegant, minimal, and timeless. This style exudes a refined and understated sophistication.
Warm wood tones will be a key feature throughout homes, bringing richness to furniture, cabinetry, flooring, and wall and ceiling treatments.
Sustainability remains a top priority in interior design, with 2025 seeing a strong focus on creating beautiful, eco-friendly spaces.
Which interior styles are you the most excited for?
I’m personally excited to see bold, saturated colors making a strong comeback. This trend has been emerging for a few years, but it feels like we finally have the courage to embrace it in a big way. Bold, vibrant interiors bring a fresh, playful energy that I believe will leave a lasting mark on design history, much like the iconic color trends of the ’70s and ’80s.
In contrast, the quiet luxury trend is a welcome evolution of the classic black-and-white aesthetic, offering a refined look that emphasizes quality and sustainability through timeless, durable materials. This style celebrates restraint while still making a statement, aligning beautifully with a more conscious approach to design.
Are there any 2024 design trends you think are on their way out?
At a high level, we can say that cool, raw, and sterile interiors are a thing of the past, and we’re embracing warmth and rich textures instead.
Gray and cool tones have been on the decline for some time, and I believe warm minimalism is the perfect direction, bringing both warmth and coziness to homes.
With growing awareness around sustainability, the trend of cheap, mass-produced furniture made from non-durable materials is starting to lose popularity. More people are investing in quality, long-lasting pieces made from sustainable materials.
From bold to timeless, the 2025 design trends are an opportunity to view current design decisions with fresh perspectives. With Aino Heinäsuo’s insights, we can start imagining how the trends will reshape interiors and inspire new ways of designing spaces in the upcoming year. Although the future might be uncertain, one thing is for sure – 2025 brings incredible design possibilities!
